题目:experiment design for quantum state preparation and tomography

摘要:this talk is to introduce some of my recent work on quantum state engineering and its applications in nmr experiments. they include: 

(1) state tomography experiment design via integer programming. we apply 0-1 integer programming to the problem of searching for minimal set of readout pulses for a state tomography experiment; 

(2) state tomography via variational hybrid quantum-classical method. we propose a hybrid quantum-classical version of the grape algorithm, which can solve both quantum optimal control and quantum state tomography problem; 

(3) optimal experiment design for quantum state transfer. we analyze the state transfer efficiency problem for different class of quantum channels, including unitary, mixed unitary and markovian. we present a strategy of optimal experiment design, which incorporates coherent radio-frequency field control, gradient field control and phase cycling, aiming at maximizing state transfer efficiency and meanwhile minimizing the number of experiments required.

i will explain very briefly each of the above research problem and our solution method.
